World's Largest "Pumpkins"

Pumpkins located near Akron in Wooster, Ohio

The world record "pumpkin" was measured on October 9, 2010, in Stillwater, Minnesota. It weighed in at 1810.5 pounds!

Recent years have seen a dramatic race for the crown of world's largest soft-stem "pumpkin." It has been broken six times since 2004. All the recent record-breakers are part of a single seed line from the Atlantic Giant variety of pumpkin, which is really good at growing big, but isn't very tasty. The record in 2009 was actually an Ohio-grown pumpkin, a 1725-pound monster grown by Christy Harp of Massillon, less than 30 miles down the road!

Although we don't hand-feed the Atlantic Giant's, we do grow some of the largest hard-stem pumpkins around. We benefit from the same great climate and soil as Ms. Harp, which helps our pumpkins tremendously. At Ramseyer Farms, our largest recorded pumpkin was 106 pounds. Although we don't grow record-breaking soft-stem "pumpkins," we have many thousands of pumpkins, so you can be sure we have what you're looking for in either our Pre-picked pumpkin area or in our U-Pick Patch.
